Breaking News !!
Hook Cricket Club have just been informed that we have achieved our Clubmark Accreditation for the next 3 years.
The standards required to achieve Clubmark Accreditation have become far more testing this time around and the club would like to extend a massive thank you to Jon Willington for the huge amount of work he did to ensure we met all the standards required.
ECB Clubmark shows that a club is sustainable, well run and provides the right environment for its members. Clubmark accreditation also means your club is recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages, as well as assuring parents and carers that they are choosing the right option for their young people.
Sunday saw the opening fixtures of the 2019 season.
The first XI hosted Llechryd while the 2nd XI travelled up to play Llechryd 2nds.
Things looked good for the 1sts at tea after Aled Phelps 56 n.o. Jamie Phelps 46 and Craig Nutty 43 n.o. all scoring well to set Llechryd what looked a challenging target of 222-5 off their 45 overs.
Unfortunately the bowling and fielding was not up to the standard of the batting and Llechryd chased down and passed the target for the loss of just 2 wickets with overs to spare.
Dai Hopkins 2-56 was the only bowler to pick up wickets.
A disappointing start to the season but hopefully the lads will recover from this early blow and put together better performances in the weeks to come.
The 2nds travelled to Llechryd a man short due to a couple of late withdrawals. It looked at tough prospect against a team who played in Division 3 last year.
After losing the toss the 2nds were put in to bat on a damp sticky wicket. Batting patiently the scoreboard was kept ticking along with the team finally ending on 119 all out in the 38th over.
Dave Petrie 31 top scored with Lewys Miller scoring 23, after opening the batting for the first time in senior cricket.
It looked a tough task at tea especially with only 10 in the field.
Lewys Miller 1-24 and Harry Makepeace 2-21 shared the new ball and both bowled brilliantly beating the bat on numerous occasions and unlucky not to take more wickets. Seth Willington 1-11 and Andrew Thomas 0-22 kept things tight before David Petrie 0-13 and Rob Makepeace 2-22 closed out the game with some great spells. Dafydd Bowen had a great debut behind the stumps and the effort of all 10 players in the field was exceptional.
To come away with a winning draw was probably one of the best performances by the 2nds team in the past few seasons and the future is certainly looking bright
Last nights Bonus Ball was 24.
We have 1 player needing 2 numbers
20 players need 4 numbers
26 players need 5 more numbers
With the rest still needing all 6 to win
But keep the faith Jon Willington was with you just a week ago and he has stormed up to joint 2nd place this week. (Nice 1 Jon)
Jackpot is at £240

A big thank you to Jamie Phelps for all the work he has put in arranging for a club clothing store online. Hopefully all players will take advantage of this to buy the Hook C C official whites this season. Good quality clothing from the Gray Nicholls range.
Jamie is looking to place a bulk order in the next couple of weeks which will be a saving on postage costs so give him a shout with your orders and payment ASAP.
